Newsletter Number 58
28th April 2003
Hello and welcome to another newsletter.
Hello again. Bit of a short Newsletter this time I am afraid as I am having some trouble sitting down to type it. About a month ago I fell of my push bike and damaged my back. Not long after the last newsletter was published the Doctors diagnosed what was wrong. I have damaged the bone in the hip when the spine joins it (S1 for those of you with a Medical background) and also damaged the disc above it. As a result, sitting down to do office work and update the website is not very comfortable and also hinders the repair of the problem. All this could not come at a worse time for many reasons, including the launch of the new site. As most of you will now know the new site is live, but not finished. There are quite a few mistakes in it that will have to stay there until I can sit down long enough to sort it out. Below I have a quick summary of some of the features of the new site.
Finally thanks to all of you that have heard of my situation and rung/e-mailed me with support. It is very much appreciated.
John Green.

Links of the week.
Two links for you to check out this newsletter. Both were sent in by Newsletter list members. Firstly have a look at this site for some interesting information on Mercedes-Benz Cabriolets.
Then if you think you are having a bad day you might want to have a look at some of the expensive mistakes made at this web page. Yes I know this is a bit morbid but check out the Mercedes-Benz disasters to see how good the passenger safety cell is.....here is one of an W210 E55 bad front damage, but the front screen isn't even broken...
Joke of the week.
(Its not a dirty joke)
One day a man, who had been stranded on a desert island for over ten years sees an unusual speck on the horizon. "It's certainly not a ship", he thinks to himself. As the speck gets closer and closer he begins to rule
out the possibilities of a small boat, then even a raft.
Suddenly, emerging from the surf, comes a drop dead gorgeous blonde woman wearing a wet suit and scuba gear. She approaches the stunned guy and says
to him, "Tell me, how long has it been since you've had a cigarette?"
"Ten years," replies the stunned man. With that she reaches over and unzips a waterproof pocket on her left sleeve and pulls out a pack of fresh cigarettes. He takes one, lights it, takes a long drag and says, "Man, oh Man! Is
that good!!"
"And how long has it been since you've had a sip of bourbon?" she asks him. Trembling the castaway replies, "Ten years." She reaches over, unzips her right sleeve, pulls out a flask and hands it to him. He opens the flask, takes a long swig and says "WOW, that's absolutely
fantastic!"
At this point she starts slowly unzipping the long zipper that runs down the front of her wet suit, looks at the man seductively and asks, "And how long has it been since you've played around?" With tears in his eyes the guy falls to his knees and sobs, "Oh Sweet Jesus! Don't tell me you've got golf clubs in there too?"
See told you it was not a dirty joke, however I am sure some of you may think differently.
MBCV Concours
The pictures of the Concours are one of the casualties of my back problem. If you want to see them without commentary they are all here. It will be quite some time until I can sort them in order and put some text to them.
The big news on the website.
Well at long last it is up and running. However as mentioned above it is up and running "warts and all". The new site represents many hours work and I hope will reflect what we are trying to do as a business, better that what the old site did.
Those of you that have registered on the site will have received notification of this newsletter via the site and the rest of the Newsletter list members will have been notified by the old method. Some of you will have been notifies twice. We need all Newsletter readers to register so that we can automate the system. Don't panic, we are not going to start selling e-mail address's or get involved with any other internet scams. Your details are safe with us.
Here is a description of some of the sites features:
Search Function. The site has an excellent Search function. The red button on the top left hand margin of the home page will get you there. For example, to find the article on "Tyre size calculators" that was in one of the old newsletter just type it in and hit Search. You could also try looking for the article on the 350SL with the Wankel engine. When we have the online shop up and going you will be able to search for very specific things by excluding the Newsletters. For example, if you type in380SE as a Search subject you get over 40 hits. To narrow the Search select from the drop down menu if you want to search: Special, cars for Sale, Parts for sale, etc, etc.
Look for parts. You can look for parts that suit your car in our Specials and Recycled pages by simply clicking on the chassis style that suits your car. For example, if you have a W123 series car you need to keep an eye on this page and on this page. We are still adding stock to these pages so check back regularly.
Notification of cars for sale. If you are looking for a particular type of car then you should register as a user. At the bottom of the form is a drop down box to register what type of car you would like to buy. When we receive a car of this type into stock you will be notified immediately.
Notification of cars for dismantling. This works the same way as the cars for sale register. When you register you let us know what sort of car you own and we will let you know when we have a special that is specific to that model. No point e-mailing you about tailshaft couplings for a 60's model when you drive a A160, is there!
Please feel free to offer what ever praise or criticism you like by e-mail to me.
Cars for Sale.
Things are still running hot in the car sales department. Both the 280TE and 280SEL 3.5 were sold within days of the last newsletter being published. The C200 is sold and the 190c that was listed on ebay was also sold.
We have several cars on there way to replace them as well as the list of cars below that are currently available for sale. These include another 190E, an excellent low mileage 450SLC, a W123 230E, a high milage (but very cheap) W126 420SEL and a W124 300E.
We also may have a very rare 300SE W112 Cabriolet for sale soon. Unfortunately it is not a factory cabriolet, but was converted from a Coupe here in Australia. It is a very good job and is quite a nice car. Price will be only a fraction of what it would be for the real thing.
